Looks like eating curries can be good for your acne condition…well if they contain tumeric that is. Karen writes an article about tumeric and acne below. I hope that you enjoy it..and the tumeric too.
Turmeric and Acne is a Combination to Clearer Looking Skin
For thousands of years it has been used as a necessary part of Asian medicine.
The bulbous root of the Curcuma Longa is the source of this spice that has been harvested, dried and crushed. It has many uses from being used as a main component of curries to the prevention of different forms of cancer.
It is believed that the Indian people are rated the lowest sufferers of Alzheimer’s disease and this is put down to their diet containing turmeric.
Phytochemical properties
The reason this spice is so potent a healer is that curcumin, a molecular oily compound, is a phytochemical with many healing properties. These properties include being a very effective anti inflammatory, antiseptic, disinfectant, anti bacterial and forceful antioxidant.
Acne begins its life as a comedo, an enlarged hair follicle filled with bacteria and oil and if this is left untreated then worsening conditions of acne will appear. This condition tends to go through the following phases.
Papule – small firm pink bump.
Pustule – small lesions that contain pus and they are red at the base with a white top.
Node/cyst – very painful inflamed pus filled lesions lodged deep within the skin and often they leave scars.
How it Works
So how does turmeric and acne work together to relieve these symptoms? The antiseptic and anti bacterial properties cleanse and break down the bacteria causing the pus to come out while the anti-inflammatory properties break down the inflammation removing the redness, heat and swelling and the added bonus is that it is also a good pain killer.
It can be taken orally or taken as a poultice and the method I use is in the form of a multi nutritional supplement, which was first introduced to it by a friend last year. I have never looked back since I started taking them as it has over 70 life enhancing plant nutrient extracts that include resveratrol, decaffeinated green tea, aloe vera and many others.
Since taking them I have noticed my energy levels increase and my skin is looking better as turmeric and acne make a winning combination to keep my skin clear.
