The key to acne control is to keep things simple! It’s important to use as few products as you can on your skin to ensure that you don’t overwhelm it. The more creams, masks, tonics, and pills you throw at the problem, the more you’ll shake up the balance of your entire system.

If you decide to buy acne creams and astringents, choose carefully. Everyone has unique skin, so that product your friend is gushingly advocating may not work at all for you. Advertisements can be very confusing as well. The best option is to go to a dermatologist and discuss what medications would be best for you.

If you have serve acne on your back, ask a friend or family member to apply your topical acne medications for you. It can be very difficult to apply creams to your own back and you can end up putting acne meditations on areas of your skin that are not affected by the condition, which can cause healthy skin to become inflamed.

Retinoid prescription creams can reduce your acne by unplugging follicles. They also help with wrinkles and exfoliate your skin. Retinoids, which include retinol, retinal and tretinoin (Retin-A), are chemically similar to vitamin A. Side effects include skin irritation. Retinoids should not be used by women who breastfeed, are pregnant or may become pregnant.

Keep your back as clean and dry as possible to reduce acne breakouts. It’s harder to treat back acne with creams and gel. Avoid vigorous rubbing and drying with towels and tight fitting clothes. It’s important to minimize irritation before breakouts can form. You can also use talc or baby powder to reduce the build-up of sweat and oil, which can lead to irritation and acne breakouts.

A good tip that can help prevent you from getting acne is to make sure you aren’t leaving your makeup products open. If you leave makeup products open such as foundation or creams, bacteria can get inside them. Once the bacteria’s inside it can easily get transferred to your face.

There are anti-acne creams that you can get prescription for that usually help difficult breakouts and people that are more prone due to genetics. You can also find medicated creams online and in most stores but make sure you know your skin to avoid irritating it or causing worse problems. Some of these creams even help to prevent future breakouts.

Many of us visit our local drugstore and buy some over-the-counter medicine to combat an acne outbreak. Usually, this is a great first line of defense. For most people, the drugstore creams, gels and cleansers, which contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid, will heal mild to moderate acne in four to six weeks. If your acne does not get better using these treatments, seek the advice of a dermatologist.

It is important that you buy proper razors and shaving cream in order to prevent acne. Many times, acne is caused by using weak or dull razors and shaving creams that are not made of good ingredients. Although it may be more expensive, better razors and shaving creams means less acne.

Anything that can help you fight back against acne would be appreciated. Just because the above tips are simplistic, do not think for a minute that they can’t work for you. Go ahead and give them a try. If you apply them correctly, you will start to witness great results in no time at all.

Glycolic Acid Benefits – Are There Any Benefits to Using Glycolic Acid For Acne Scars?
By Cavyl Stewart

Glycolic acid benefits are very wide ranging, as this acid provides a number of functions that improve overall skin health and quality. In fact, glycolic acid can help with the appearance of acne scars, all while helping to keep your skin clean to prevent future breakouts, and thus, future scarring as well. Not only that, but the solution can even out your skin tone, improve the texture of your skin, and perform other functions as well! Read on for more information about this amazing acid and its benefits.

How Your Skin Benefits

The reason for these benefits is that the substance stimulates collagen and elastin in your skin (specifically the dermis, which is the second layer). This can help to firm up your skin, which keeps it looking healthy and youthful. In regards to acne scarring, glycolic acid can help by raising the bottom of scars to make a smoother appearance which minimizes the appearance of these scars. Instead, they become much flatter, so that they are very hard to see in comparison to before treatments began.

These kinds of benefits can usually be seen within months of when you start treatment. You should apply glycolic acid twice per day if you want the maximum benefits. The substance comes in different percentages, and 12-20% solution is recommended for those hoping for improvements with the appearance of acne scarring.

At the same time, glycolic acid will clean your skin follicles, which clears out dead cells that would otherwise build up and produce acne at a faster rate. This acid will keep these dead cells from “clumping”, which in turn keeps your pores from being blocked and promoting exfoliation. Also, it can even prevent ingrown hairs! As you can see, there are a lot of various benefits from using this one substance for facial treatment.

The possible glycolic acid benefits for acne scars are well worth the relatively small expense of the substance itself. It is not a difficult product to use, and it will not only diminish acne scars, but also prevent future acne breakouts and give you healthier, younger looking skin. For all of these reasons and more, this acid continues to be very popular among people who want to take care of their skin and keep it looking healthy and great for years and years to come.

There’s no reason you should sit there and be embarrassed about your acne scars any longer when you can experience glycolic acid benefits that can improve your skin and clear up

your skin and clear up those bothersome scars.

Acne care to a large extent is being proactive about treating the lesions, swelling and scarring that is associated with the onset of acne outbreaks.Since acne is most visible as blackheads, whiteheads, redness and swelling around the lesions or skin pores where the bacteria known as P. acnes is congregated, appropriate acne care must be targeted to eliminating the physical signs. Perhaps just as importantly, the best way to treat the lesions associated with acne is to prevent them from occurring. A combination of treatment methods is often the most successful practice, but your dermatologist should be consulted to determine your best treatment regimen. It is important to take action and to follow the instructions of the medical professional rather than hoping that you will outgrow the problem.

Importance of Action

Regardless of the type of acne that you have diagnosed, taking action to begin the process of healing is important. Prompt and aggressive acne care is more likely to provide positive results. The big guns don’t have to be brought to bear against a mild outbreak of acne, but you should take note of it and use appropriate measures to limit its severity and spread. In this way, you are less likely to find the need of more extensive treatment in the future. Acne doesn’t have to be a nightmare of embarrassment and discomfort.

Daily Cleansing Routine

No matter what type of acne you have developed, a daily cleansing routine should be part of your acne care practices. A mild product that will gently remove oil, dirt and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin will help to improve skin health. The cleansing agent should not contain abrasives. A product that contains salicylic acid is a good direction to go for positive results. Salicylic acid helps to reduce excess secretions from the sebaceous glands so that blockage of the follicle is eliminated. This occurs without excess drying of the skin.

Medications

Acne care that works is improved by various types of medications. There are oral medications and topical medications that are given quite commonly to reduce the population of acne related bacteria. Usually, topical medications are prescribed for many types of acne that are mild to moderate in severity or that are sporadic in appearance. On the other hand, oral antibiotics may be necessary when the acne symptoms are severe or long lasting so that they are resistant to less aggressive treatments. The purpose of most medical and light treatments is to deal with the bacteria level to make the acne outbreaks less likely.

Surgical Intervention

Finally, if there are still residual effects such as scars or thickened skin as a result of acne, you can expand the acne care to remove scars with the use of surgical techniques. These methods can include dermabrasion or cosmetic surgery. The procedures are usually done on an outpatient basis by qualified dermatologists or cosmetic surgeons. The cost and the complexity of the procedure will depend upon the severity of the acne condition and type of procedure selected. This type of procedure is usually chosen to help improve the appearance, which in turn is a boost to the self esteem.

Is cucumber a good tool to use to assist in the treatment of acne? The article below looks into that question. Personally I don’t think that it would help bad cases of acne too much, but it may assist small cases. What do you think?

Is Cucumber For Acne Really an Effective Acne Solution?

Many people relate cucumber with having a soothing effect if placed on the eyes to reduce puffiness or dark circles but many acne sufferers use it as an acne solution. As with most acne solutions, it’s down to experimenting to see if it is as effective for you as it is for others. Don’t let that put you off, it’s a cheap homemade natural solution so if it doesn’t work for you you haven’t wasted a small fortune on expensive products.

There are many benefits of cucumber for acne, this article will let you in on the secrets of cucumber, why its an effective acne solution for many people and then provide resources on how to make your own cucumber facial mask and other cucumber solutions so you can finally show off acne free clear skin!

1. One of the key properties of cucumber for acne is the cool soothing feeling it provides the skin. This helps to reduce red inflamed acne and is also effective if you have sun burn!

2. The water content of cucumber is over 90% so it’s a natural way of keeping the skin moisturised, toned and hydrated rather than having to apply over the counter moisturisers that can aggravate your skin.

3. Cucumber also has skin tightening properties. It cleanses the skin removing impurities and dead skin cells and tightens the pores leaving them smaller and less likely to become clogged.

4. As well as an acne solution cucumber also acts as an anti-aging solution at the same time. The amino acids and minerals contained in cucumber help preserve skin by firming and regenerating it. It has been claimed that cucumber is better at reducing wrinkles than most of the man made creams designed to do so. Even Cleopatra was said to have used cucumber juice to preserve her skin!

I have been rather lucky with respect to acne scars, as I did have rather bad acne but I have only a few rather unoticable scars. Unfortunately many acne sufferers do obtain ugly scars. The article below gives some insight into acne scars and with particular attention to old acne scars.

How Do I Get Rid of Old Acne Scars?

Having acne isn’t something anyone is happy with. What is even worse though is that for some individuals the signs of it linger long after it has gone away. This is in the form of acne scars. They can be very minimal or they can be very evident which will make a person self conscious most of the time.

How do Acne Scars Form?

Acne scars form after the breakouts have cleared up. Some individuals worry that they have scars right away. This is because they redness and indentions from acne can last for up to six months before they go away on their own. If the area remains that way for more than six months it should then be classified as a scar.

Sometimes too much new tissue forms around the area though and that too can result in scarring. So there has to be a balance because too much or too little of the tissue can increase your chances of scars remaining.

Types of Acne Scars

Acne scars are classified according to which category that your recovery fell into. Those that are caused by too much tissue are known as hypertrophic. Generally there is too much collagen being produced. Those caused by a loss of tissue are often smaller in both diameter and depth. They are often called ice pick scars due to the small indentations that they leave on the face .

Avoiding the Development of Acne Scars

It is important to remember that your face consists of live tissue. So when it is damaged due to the acne outbreaks it may not recover fully. Doing all you can to make sure it heals well is important. For example you need white blood cells for the live tissue to recover. Eating right will help you to continue to have enough of them in your body to avoid acne scars.

It is best to keep the skin clean and to pat it dry after washing it. Excessive rubbing can result in the skin becoming irritated. That can lead to the development of acne scarring as can squeezing and touching the inflamed area of skin. Do your best to treat the acne as soon as you can. The less severe that the outbreak is, the less likely you will end up with scars from it.

Tips to Remove Acne Scars

Should you find that acne scars do develop though they don’t have to be permanent. There are some ways in which you can reduce the look of them or complete remove them. It will depend on your skin type, the severity of the acne scars, and how long you have had them.

Avoid the various over the counter products that tell you they will eliminate them though. Instead you will need to look towards technology to help you. The use of a laser to stimulate the skin that has been scarred seems to be very effective. However, it is also expensive and it can take many sessions before you see results.

Injections of collagen into the skin as well as microabrasion work well for ice pick scars. These methods also require several treatments over the course of time before you will see results. For more severe types of acne scars skin surgery or grafting may be necessary.

How do I Know Which Treatment is Right for Me?

Since there are many issues that have to be addressed, you should have a professional decide which treatment options will work best for you. A dermatologist who specializes in skin can do this for you. In most instances you should be able to get a free consultation about the remove of old acne scars. Make sure you get at least two different opinions though before you make a final decision.

There are many posts telling acne sufferers what remedies to take, but this post tells you what not to do when you suffer from acne.

The 1st one mentioned “do not touch your face” can sometimes be blamed for the types of food affecting acne. I remember thinking that peanuts would make my acne worse, but in reality it was the oil from the peanuts present on my hands which then went onto my face. To make matters worse, many acne sufferers put their hands on their face to hide their acne.

Suffering From Acne? 5 Things You Shouldn’t Do

You may be well aware of so many techniques as well as countless concoctions that help prevent acne development. However, some of your most common practices may actually be detrimental in your quest for flawless young skin. Since there are different skin types, it is also important to specifically target problem areas with proper preventive measures. Here are some taboos.

1. Do Not Touch Your Face

Always keep your hands to yourself. As much as possible avoid unnecessary touching or wash your hands thoroughly with mild soap and water before attending to your face. Although it is a myth that certain foods like chocolate can cause pimples, your hands can harbor a lot of bacteria, oils and grease that tend to clog up your pores. Wear cotton gloves if you have the tendency to keep touching your face unconsciously when you sleep.

Do not prick your pimples. Instead, use the proper techniques to drain and soothe itches properly. Make sure you bring a clean handkerchief or blotting paper when going out to wipe off sweat and excess oil. Make it a habit to wash your hands after each time you snack or play sports. Cut your fingernails regularly as well to reduce the amount of germs that may be transferred.

2. Do Not Use Too Many Products

Using too many products will increase the likelihood of reaction between substances. A combination of various cosmetics plus anti-acne solutions can also irritate sensitive skin so you may be better off using only 1 or 2 types of cleansers, 1 moisturizer, 1 toner and 1 astringent if your face is really oily. Look for hypoallergenic formulas or avoid alcohol-based products when it comes to masks, exfoliating creams, lotions and the like. Taking in some drugs or medications may also cause systemic and hormonal changes in your body resulting to unexpected outbreaks and unwanted zits. Always read the labels and assess possible side effects.

3. Do Not Treat Frequently

Washing your face too often will change the normal pH and increase the likelihood of bacteria and dead skin cells to accumulate and spread. The skin dries up too much to the point that it becomes dry or flaky. At best, wash your face 2 times daily or 3 times if you have oily skin. When using anti-acne products, be careful about the number of times you apply as well as the amount you put on. It is recommended that you apply a thin coat layer first then add a second coat later on if you need more when it comes to moisturizers and toners.

4. Do Not Scrub Too Hard

Avoid scrubbing your face too hard when washing or scratching your face unnecessarily. Friction can push dirt, dirt plugs and dead skin cells deeper into the pore making it harder for you to extract and treat. Frequent and hard scrubbing can also damage skin cells and tissues which can lead to permanent scars and large pores. Use the tips of your forefinger and middle finger when washing and gently but firmly apply cleansers, toners and moisturizers in rhythmic circular strokes on the problem areas.

Instead of rubbing your skin to dry, use a clean cotton towel to pat areas to avoid friction. Friction also applies to shaving and applying makeup. Be careful about sensitive pores and growing acne that may erupt at any time. Shave along the grain and use shaving cream to protect your skin from nicks and abrasions. It is also a rule to apply makeup gently and carefully.

5. Do Not Leave It All to Mother Nature

Healthy lifestyle habits will significantly improve the condition of your skin since you rid your body of toxins and balance hormones by relieving stress. Make it a habit to consume more nutritious foods rich in vitamins, minerals and fiber. Dietary supplementation particularly vitamin A, E and zinc can also help you reach your nutrition goals. Exercise regularly and do some form of meditation or breathing exercise 10 minutes everyday. Sleep at regular intervals and aim for 8 to 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep every night. Keep yourself protected from harmful elements as well by wearing sunscreen, hats, masks and drinking water all the time.
