Homemade Acne Scar Removal
By Lee Justin Collins
Homemade remedies for acne scars are simple to make, but which ones work?
Let’s take a look at some simple home remedies for acne scars.
1. The best natural product I have found that has cleared away my skin problem are lemons. Lemons are high in citric acid, and this acid is very good at killing bacteria, a common cause of skin inflammations. Simply rubbing the lemon juice on the effected area before bedtime, leave on overnight, and then wash it away in the morning with warm water. This is not only good on the face, but on the back too, another place where acne is prone to attacking.
2. Another high source of citric acid is tomatoes. This juice can be applied in the same way as the lemon juice. You can either buy tomato juice from your local supermarket, or make the juice yourself by simply blending a fresh tomato. Apply this to the face or affected area before bedtime, leave overnight and then wash away with warm water.
3. Garlic has been shown to work for some people. I cannot say i have tried this method, but in studies it has been shown to reduce the amount of redness and inflammation. It is important to use fresh garlic, either the raw clove or squeeze into a paste using a garlic press. This may not sound like a good way of attracting the opposite sex, but it might help you clear up your acne scars. You also might want to boost the amount of deodorant you are using to try and overpower the smell of garlic on your body.
So we have looked at some simple homemade acne scar removal treatments. Before trying any of these, it is important to try the treatment on a small area, to make sure you don’t have any adverse reactions.

Stress and anxiety can cause acne while having acne can cause one to be stressed, so it is a undesirable loop that one needs to get themselves out of. Edward explains the acne implications to teens due to stress and anxiety.
Stress and Acne – Implications For the Modern Teenager
By Edward Larrson
Acne is simply a skin disorder that reflects a dysfunction in the pilosebaceous unit of the skin – that which comprises a hair follicle and the surrounding sebaceous gland.
More often than not, acne is the result of a blockage in the drainage of sebum from the sebaceous gland. In these instances, inflammation of the surrounding tissues occur leading to its characteristic skin malformations, especially during the later stages. In the early stages of acne, cellular changes can occur that can provide interesting clues as to its existence.
Unmanaged stress and anxiety have been shown to be one of the more important reasons why acne develops in adolescents. Because of the developmental growth spurts occurring by the age of puberty until early adulthood, adolescents experience a variety of hormonal changes that ultimately shape their characteristics as grownups. These hormones, when mixed together with the stress hormones that are released because of stimulation of the sympathetic nervous system, can initiate a cascade of events that will render the acne more troublesome than it normally is.
Because one of the adolescent’s most important psychosocial task is to develop a sense of identity, having acne all across one’s face, upper neck and chest and the back may be largely detrimental to this aim. Part of developing a health identity is a good self-image and self-concept which, unfortunately for the adolescent, is usually more focused on physical appearances. Having a fair, flawless, toned and firm skin is crucial to this need of the teenager to look good and have a more favorable concept about his or her self.
A teenager who has acne therefore, may have difficulties developing a fair sense of self-esteem. This is made more complex by the various changes in the teen’s body and sexuality that all of these put undue stress to the teenager. With an undesired physical appearance, the teenager becomes further stressed, and the more acne will develop – both in number and in severity.
Thus, it is important for a teenager to have a fair understanding of both acne and stress and their interrelationships so that the person will be able to hurdle the transition into adulthood with considerable success.

Propionibacterium Acnes
By Alwyn Tan
The topic today is on “propionibacterium acnes”, short form “P. acnes”. It is the common bacteria that causes the acne on our face, when thriving in huge amounts. It is a generally slow growing and harmless bacteria that is a common resident of the skin. However, its destructive nature is activated when your pores become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, an anaerobic environment where p. acnes thrive.
Propionibacterium acnes is the number 1 cause for pimples (acne vulgaris). There are 2 causes of pimples or acne in general. One is through poor hygiene such as not having a bath immediately after sports activities resulting in the sweat and dirt on your face clogging up all the pores. The other is through hormonal imbalance in your body especially during teenage and pregnancy times when the huge amounts of excess oil produced clogged up your pores. In the latter, propionibacterium acnes forms only a very small role.
Pimples can form on literally any parts of our body. However, you see them normally happening primarily on your face and secondarily on your chest only because of the sebum (oil) secretion at those areas. That is why, propionibacterium acnes is able to capitalise mainly only on those areas by creating an inflammation within the clogged pores so all the pus filled acne (papules / pimples / cysts) come out.
Something to take note is that acne caused by propionibacterium acnes is not common for adults over 25 years old. Only 25% of this target age group have acne unfortunately into their adulthood with women being more susceptible than men (in teenage years, guys are more susceptible than women isn’t it?).
By reducing the propionibacterium acnes population, you would be intercepting the bacteria from causing acne. Common ways to do it are through antibiotics, and Benzoyl Peroxide does it as well.
I wouldn’t be discussing in great detail on the treatments for it here as I have already done so on my other post http://www.acne-solution-today.com/antibiotic-for-acne/ and also other sections of my blog. Till next time, goodbye!

People suffering from breakouts might wonder if there is a difference between acne and pimples. It’s easy to get confused when no one really has all the information and we’re constantly bombarded with commercials with celebrities who say their product is the best.
In truth, there’s no real difference between acne and pimples. It’s all kind of semantical. Pimples are just one form of acne, the type of thing people think of when they hear the word acne.
Acne is a much broader category. It includes not only pimples, but also whiteheads, blackheads, rosacea. Also when someone says “pimple,” people usually tend to think of a few here and there. Acne tends to indicate that you have more than one breakout. Acne tends to mean multiple breakouts all over the skin.
As I said before, it’s really just semantics. Pimples are just one form of acne; there’s no real difference between acne and pimples except by how you define them.
If you’re suffering from a few pimples here and there, here are a few tips to clear them up fast.
1.) Stop washing and/or scrubbing your face. Washing your skin to often or scrubbing it will only cause more breakouts. Your pimples have nothing to do with dirt or oil on your face.
2.) Want a pimple to go away fast? Mix some water with baking soda or crush up an aspirin pill and mix it with water. Both will dry out the pimple and clear away any excess dead skin, helping it heal faster.
3.) Drink more water. This will help hydrate your skin and help it clear away blemishes faster.
So while there’s no real difference between acne and pimples, you can do a few things to help clear away those few pesky pimples.
If you are suffering from more severe forms of acne, then the question of whether there is a difference between acne and pimples is pretty moot.
Well as I mentioned earlier, acne has nothing to do with dirt or oil on your face. Acne has nothing to do with your skin at all for that matter because it’s a problem that starts inside of our bodies. Acne can happen to anyone and it worsen during our puberty stages due to the fluctuation in hormones that cause more oil to be produced on our skin. The oil clogged up the pores which lead to infection that will cause acne. Acne on the back is harder to cure as it is hidden from our own eyes which make cleaning much more difficult and we always lie on our back when we sleep which can cause acne on our back to worsen as the skin does not breathe freely. The formation of back acne is similar to facial acne and here are some ways you can use to cure back acne.
To cure back acne, the first thing you need to do is to avoid tight clothing. Tight clothing may irritate your skin and when you perspire, your perspiration will be trapped in your tight clothing that may irritate the skin further.
If you are having trouble reaching your back when you are bathing. Get a back brush and that will help to ensure that you are washing your back thoroughly. You can also purchase soaps that contain salicylic acid which can help to overcome acne. Do remember to change your bed sheet regularly and wear your clothes when you are sleeping. This will prevent bacteria from your bed sheet to get in direct contact with your skin.
Lastly, always remember to have a healthy diet which can help your body to operate in its optimal condition. So that it can efficiently remove toxins from the body which is also one of the causes of acne. It is also mentioned that staying up late and a stressful lifestyle will cause more acne to appear, so having an early night rest and managing your stress level will definitely help you to cure back acne.
Next, find out how people cure back acne permanently using natural methods which are much more effective and affordable compared to over the counter products.

Most people are concerned about the physical aspects of acne, but I believe that the mental issue of acne is far more important. People lack so much self confidence due to worrying what others will think of them with some spots on their face, etc. Daren writes an article below about coping with acne.
Acne Control – Learning to Cope With Your AcneThe good news is that acne really doesn’t pose a physical threat to your health. It hurts but it goes away quickly and most of us never even have to speak to a doctor about it. The bad news about acne is that it can take a severe toll on our mental health, especially your self-esteem.
You Aren’t Alone
When you are a teenager whose face is covered in painful red splotches it can be very easy to start thinking that you are all alone. You need to remember that most of your peers are going through the exact same thing. Approximately 85% of the country’s 12-24 year old population is struggling to cope with acne.
Don’t Obsess
Part of the reason that an outbreak of acne has such a big effect on our self confidence is because of when it happens. Most of us develop acne during our teenage years, a time when everything seems like a big deal. Because stress can be a trigger for acne there is often a snowball effect, a teenager gets a pimple, stresses about the pimple and breaks out in two more pimples. The best way to prevent this from happening is to simply accept that you have a small spot on your face and get on with your life. Soon the pimple will fade and you will forget all about its existence.
Don’t be Passive
One of the biggest mistakes that teenagers often make when it comes to coping with acne is that they take a passive approach. They wake up in the morning and look in the mirror when they see a zit they just assume that their life is over. What you have to remember is that no one notices your acne as much as you do. Just because you have a small spot on your face is no reason to hide from life. Ignore your pimple and have some fun.
Take Control
A proactive approach to your acne is the best approach. Being proactive means that you have to think about what kind of effect your diet has on your complexion and using the proper facial care products. If you think that you are doing everything properly and you are still being plagued by outbreaks of acne you should seek additional assistance from a professional dermatologist.
Having a positive attitude will have a positive effect on your acne.

Many people only think of acne being a physical condition that people suffer with. In reality, huge psychological effects can be worse for those that have acne conditions. Acne can be the cause of many losing confidence in themselves, hence preventing opportunities such as relationships, getting jobs etc. Marius goes into this subject in more detail below.
The Unseen Impact of Acne
Besides the well-known, undesired and very-hard-to-get-rid-of physical effects of acne, of course there is a lot more. A lot more all these people have to endure and cope with on a daily basis: the emotional side of the story, the so called ‘quiet’ or ‘unseen’ impact of acne.
During our whole lifetime we own a special private ‘visit card’ – our face, look or appearance. With predilection in the young adulthood, we all express ourselves through our looks, and if by ‘looks’ we sadly refer to a face full of pimples and red spots, well…it’s not quite as outgoing and pleasant for others to gauge at our ‘attractiveness’.
Those who suffer from acne usually blame no one else or nothing else but themselves, because they simply don’t understand their condition. Busting the myths about acne may help you understand the causes of this disease and take precautious measures to control it.
Acne has an important impact on the way people perceive ‘life’: they understand that they have to step aside from any social environment, by isolating themselves as much and often as they can, their self-esteem and self-respect get very low, they are depressed, angry, anxious. Most times these feelings of rage and worthlessness lead to suicidal tendencies. When a treatment is given to them, they feel confused and frustrated, they feel their social life is being limited by force, and they tend to find themselves in or to create difficult and awkward relationships with the rest of their family.
These effects are often related to each other and form a powerful impact on the patients, discouraging them when they try to pursuit some social opportunities, either it is at work or at school. An article written by Sulzberger and Zaidems in 1984 said the following: ‘there is no any other disease that could cause more psychical pain, more misunderstandings between parents and children, more general insecurity and more feelings of inferiority and also more psychical sufferance than acne vulgaris is causing’.
The implication is quite obvious; acne hurts more in the inside than on the outside. It is crucial that patients understand that it is not their fault. Contrary to the popular belief, acne is not caused by what a person does, eats, washes his/her face, but by a lot of combined factors that have their origins in the skin.
Many times people who should consider themselves lucky they do not have to confront with acne tend to wrongfully underestimate the emotional and social impact of acne. It is a serious matter and we should all have more consideration for those suffering. Sometimes the mental stress of those affected by acne is greater than the stress associated with other chronic diseases, such as asthma, back pains, hearts diseases or diabetes.
The results of a study have shown the fact that 18 percent of acne patients reported serious depression and 44 percent reported anxiety. These people live in a real ‘depth of despair’, properly illustrated by another study reporting that 6 percent of patients thought about putting an end to their lives.
The social impacts of acne are also very likely to affect one’s ability to earn his or her living. There are studies that indicate the fact that those who suffer from this skin condition are prone to unemployment more than those who do nor have to deal with this shameful disease, and also there is a Canadian study that shows the fact that people with more severe acne are more likely to be unemployed than those with lesser involvement; nevertheless, the exact cause of these findings is rather uncertain: we do not know if these are due to the fact that the employer might find it difficult to hire someone whose face is covered in pimples, or because of that person’s psychosocial impairment.
Acne may cause a deep emotional sufferance, but, if you have acne, the idea that you are not facing this horrible skin condition alone, by your own, and that the related treatments have seemingly evolved and there is a way to find a solution even for you should keep you going.

An Effective Homemade Acne Treatment That Rocks – Baking Soda For Acne
Baking soda for acne is one of the best homemade acne treatments because it’s so cheap and effective. All you need are to readily available ingredients that will cost you next to nothing and they’re great for controlling breakouts.
For the first ingredient, look no further than the bathroom sink. No, not under it! I’m talking about regular old water. You don’t need mountain spring water imported from the mountains in Tibet, plain tap water will work just fine.
The second ingredient? Well, hopefully if you’ve read this far you’re already aware that its baking soda. Yes, that little yellow box that sits inside of your fridge and gets all moldy. Since the coolest thing it ever did before this was make volcanoes for the 5th grade science fair, I’m happy its finally getting its due.
Anyways, this is one of the best homemade acne treatments available now because its so cheap and its mighty effective. Some people argue that to get the best results with baking soda for acne, you should also use apple cider vinegar to help balance the pH of your face. I personally believe this to be true, but its still very effective to use just by itself.
I’m assuming that if you’ve read this far, you’ve already gained all the necessary skills to apply this to your face. All you have to do is mix up a little bit of the baking soda for acne and some water. Then just apply it to your face. While some homemade acne treatments require that you leave it on for the maximum benefit, you can rinse this off as soon as you’ve finished applying it. For best results, just let it sit for about a minute and you’re good to go.
That’s all there is! Baking soda for acne, like all other homemade acne treatments, is super cheap. One box will run you a whopping dollar. Take the other $39 dollars you would have spent on a useless cream and do whatever you like with it.
The only problem with baking soda for acne as well as other homemade acne treatments is that they’ll never actually cure your acne problem. The best they’ll do is help your skin look better by controlling breakouts. This is because acne begins inside of your body and these treatments are only on the outside.
To truly be free of your acne problems, you have to avoid trigger foods and other causes that cause your body to go haywire. Some of the more common triggers are vegetable oil, processed flours, and red meats. A body in need will tell you by causing acne. When you pay attention to those needs, you will finally be free of acne.
If you liked the information above, please take a look at my blog about homemade acne treatments. There’s a lot of good information on acne causes and cures and what you can do help control breakouts and finally rid yourself of acne forever.
